Vice

"Help!" I yelled "I got my head trapped in a vice"
"It's spelled with an S" she said.
It's hard to spell when your head is in a vice.

according to dictionary.com

vise also vice
n. A clamping device, usually consisting of two jaws closed or opened by a screw or lever,

Both are correct. Bah!
